Information Governance

What is Information Governance?

Information Governance is the term linking Data Protection, Caldicott, Information Security, Information Quality and Confidentiality. It recognises that these areas have significant overlap, and underpins development of a culture to handle information appropriately. To ensure that confidentiality, integrity (quality) and accessibility of information is maintained we offer support in the following areas;

  • Education & awareness
  • Query advice & resolution
  • Advice on service development,
    operational change
  • Sharing information - confidentiality dilemmas
  • On-site visits and risk assessments

Information Sharing
Core principles agreement

In order to ensure the safe and beneficial exchange of information on individuals in receipt of health and social care and to work with partner agencies, all organisations are required to look at their flows of information. There are many routine flows of information and also regular new developments that mean information is exchanged for new purposes and new services. Any exchange of information must be fair, legal, appropriate and secure. In order to promote consistency the Core Principles agreement has been developed over the last 10 years. It provides the cornerstone for any development where organisations need to share information and enables the sharing to consider all relevant legal and regulatory controls, as well as aiming to ensure that real benefit is made from information resources, both for individuals in receipt of service and the public as a whole.

Other information sharing agreements:
